Steps

I could feel it, burning in the back of my head
I never had a girl like you so when you came by everything was gold

My brain, a mask coated skin thumbing away in bliss
Her smile was sunshine incarnate

Inevitably the days came to a halt
I love her like the scent of strawberry in the summer breeze

I thought we had something sweet, like Lena Park
but over time it became sour, rotting like bark
